HOW TO PRAY EFFECTIVELY INTRODUCTION What is prayer 1. Prayer is purposeful communication with the Lord 2. The purpose of the prayer determines the mode and details of the prayer 3. Religion or wrong teaching can distort your understanding of prayer as was the case of Jesus disciples. Why We pray 1. Because Prayer is an important part of our lives and is a privilege as well as an honor 2. Because Every moment of prayer is an investment in eternity 3. Because True prayer is a romance of righteousness. (Romance is a feeling of excitement associated with love) 4. Because Prayer is fellowship (communion of the God-kind) and that fellowship is with the Father and his Son Jesus Christ (1 John 1:3). Pastor also calls prayer a throne-room caucus rendezvous (a special conference or meeting at an appointed time in the throne room). It is a time of rich communion with the Lord. That is why scripture encourages us to pray without ceasing(1 Thess 5:17) 5. Prayer helps to season our spirits as a dependable receptacle for God's Spirit and power so that we can connect to his ideas, visions and leadings in order to change the world. 6. When we pray we make tremendous power available dynamic in its working, causing changes in our favor. With this power, we can then straighten things in the spirit realm regarding our immediate, or future as individuals, families, or ministries. This means in prayer we can change circumstances and alter destinies in his name. 7. To meditate on his goodness and appropriate his benefits to our life circumstances. Pastor gave us a scripture: Psalms 68:19 which tells us that our gracious and loving father daily loads us with benefits. Therefore in prayer we now appropriate those benefits to our life circumstances.
